GPDI Service Area

Membership is by
appointment. Counties appoint two members each. The cities of Great
Bend, Garden City, Dodge City, Pratt and Liberal each appoint one
member. Minority members are appointed by GPDI. These members elect
a board of directors to oversee operations.
GPDI receives funding from the following sources:
GPDI is designated as
a Certified Development Company (CDC) by the Small Business
Administration (SBA). As a CDC, our function is to assist small
businesses within our 28 county area of Southwest Kansas in
obtaining financing.
GPDI is also certified as an Economic Development
District (EDD) by the U.S. Department of Commerce. As an EDD, our
function is to assist cities and counties in planning and
implementing projects that provide for economic development growth.
The resources
available through GPDI consist of numerous loan programs under
GPDI's decision-making supervision, as well as loan programs we work
with but do not make the final lending decision.
GPDI works with other
development groups throughout the District to help new and existing
businesses, and has formed partnerships with many agencies to
promote the Kansas economy.
GPDI meets its primary
goals of job creation and economic development by encouraging new
business formation and expansion of existing businesses through our
financing programs, and by providing assistance in improving public
infrastructure and facilities.
The right program
for loan assistance depends on the size of the loan request, use of
proceeds and other qualifying factors. Descriptions of the programs
available through GPDI are included in this web site. Please feel
free to contact GPDI for an
application packet or to discuss specific information about your
project with one of our development
representatives.
